Why can't I edit an old reconciliation?

Why Can't I Edit an Old Reconciliation?

Also searched as: edit a past reconciliation, delete a reconciliation, reconciliation locked, can't change previous month reconciliation

The Rule: Reconciliations Must Be Edited in Order

To edit a reconciliation, it must cover the most-recent month of an account's transactions that you've reconciled. You cannot jump back and edit an older month while a newer one still exists.

  • Example: To edit the reconciliation for April, you must first delete the reconciliation for May.
  • To then edit March, you must also delete April.
  • After you delete a reconciliation, you can edit the reconciliation for the month immediately preceding the one you deleted.

This is why an older reconciliation may appear locked or non-editable — a later month's reconciliation is still in place.

How to Edit or Delete a Reconciliation
  1. From the "RECONCILIATIONS" window, find the reconciliation you want to change.
  2. In the ACTIONS column, click the three-dots menu.
  3. Choose Edit Reconciliation to open and modify its details.
  4. Choose Delete Reconciliation to remove it (required before you can edit an earlier month, per the rule above).
