Overview
The Chart of Accounts lists every financial institution and transaction category you've added in Financials. It lets you organize transactions by source and analyze finances over time.
- Parent accounts represent major transaction categories.
- Sub-accounts itemize more-specific subcategories within a parent account.
How to get there
- In the Admin Dashboard's vertical menu, click the Financials tab to open it.
- Click the Chart of Accounts tab.
The main summary window
- Accounts tab (shown by default) — parent accounts appear in the left column, with their sub-accounts in the column to the right. Click any account's row to open its Edit account area.
- Search tab — appears alongside the Accounts tab; see the separate article on searching for accounts.
- Show inactive toggle — switch this on to display deactivated accounts. Deactivated accounts show an Inactive badge next to their name.
- +Add New Account button — creates a new parent account or sub-account.
- Download CSV button — exports your account data to a file you can open in any spreadsheet program.
The account detail area
When you click an account in the list, its details appear on the right side of the window — account number, name, balance, account type, and detail type. Click the Edit account link there to change that account's information.
