Overview of Newsfeed

What the Newsfeed Does

Your organization's Newsfeed provides timely updates about the latest developments in your community. It lets members:

  • Communicate about current developments
  • Post activity reminders
  • Ask for advice
  • Make service and contractor recommendations
  • And more

As the website Administrator, you can post new items to the Newsfeed and provide editorial oversight of members' posts. The feature builds on members' familiarity with social media so the whole community can interact and discuss topics.

Note: Newsfeed activity is visible only on the member-facing view of your community website — not inside the Admin area — unlike most other features.

 How to Add a Newsfeed Page to Your Website

  1. In Site Setup, click Add Page at the bottom of the menu (for a main-level page) or the corresponding link below another page's name (to add it to a submenu).
  2. In the Page Template dropdown, select Newsfeed.
  3. Name your page.
  4. Click Add at the bottom of the New Page window.
  5. Click Save and Publish in the top right corner of the website.
  6. Return to your community's public website and navigate to the newly created Newsfeed page to start adding posts.

 Managing Posts as an Administrator

Administrators can:

  • Create their own posts
  • Edit and remove user posts
  • Block individual members from posting, liking, or replying to posts
  • Pin a post so it stays at the top of the Newsfeed

For added control, Admins can adjust an individual member's settings through the Member Details page to prevent that member from contributing to the Newsfeed, if their Newsfeed behavior becomes inappropriate. Unless blocked, members can create new posts and like/reply to others' posts.

 Post Visibility

When creating a post, you can limit its visibility to members only, or make it accessible to the general public.

 The Recent News Widget

The Recent News widget on the Home page (present in all design themes) automatically populates with the most recent Newsfeed posts, giving members an at-a-glance view of the latest community activity. Clicking a post's Read more link navigates directly to the Newsfeed page.

  • By default, only Admins' posts appear in the Recent News widget.
  • To allow all member posts to appear: from the Site Setup Home page, hover over the Recent News widget box, click Recent News Settings, check Show All Posts, and click Update.
