Overview of Message Center Templates

What Message Center Templates Do

Message Center Templates control the content of system messages about invoicing and Membership, as well as e-blasts you send yourself. Edit standard system messages to add your community's specific content, revert them to their standard versions at any time, or turn off (deactivate) the system processes tied to a specific message type — such as sending invoices or late-payment reminders.

Important: Deactivating an Automated Template gives you real power over the associated system feature — only deactivate a template if you're sure you want to stop the system from performing that feature's function.

 Two Types of Templates Automated Templates

Automated Templates are set up by the system to support specific software functions, such as:

  • Invoicing messages (Invoice Late, Invoice Marked as Paid, Invoice Reminder, Invoice Sent, Invoice Sent Manually)
  • Member registration messages (Member Registration, Registration Approved, Registration Rejected)
  • Password messages (Set Password Auto, Set Password Confirmation, Set Password Manually Sent, Set Password Registration Approved)

You can edit, deactivate, activate, and reset Automated Templates, but you cannot create or delete them.

 Custom Templates

Custom Templates are ones you build yourself, for use in e-blasts sent through Membership > Members > Message Filtered Members. Only Custom Templates let you create entirely new messaging.

Custom Templates include modular components for the message subject and body, plus the ability to add interactive buttons and attach a document.

 Dynamic and Static Fields

  • Dynamic fields insert content that's replaced with information specific to each recipient — a first and/or last name, e-mail address, community name, or elements of a specific message type (such as an invoice's name or due/late date).
  • Static fields add specific types of modular content areas to a template — message headings, body areas, clickable/linked buttons, and embedded images.
