Online Voting and Surveys Overview
Online Voting and Surveys Overview
Use a special type of custom form to create surveys and polls for online voting.
How to Create a Voting Form (Survey/Poll)
- In the vertical Admin Dashboard window, open the Forms tab.
- Click the Voting/Surveys tab.
- Click the +Add New Survey button in the upper right corner to create your voting form.
Key Form Settings
- Make Survey/Poll checkbox — activate this to enable the voting features.
- Make Submissions Anonymous checkbox — creates a survey that shows results without identifying individual voters.
- Survey End Date field — enter a date to specify how long voting lasts.
- Note: with anonymous voting and with end dates, results are visible only after the survey ends.
- Make Form Uneditable checkbox — if activated, you cannot change the form once someone casts a ballot on it.
Choosing Where Members Can Vote
- Members Only checkbox — limits survey access to website members.
- Member Dashboard/Portal Accessible checkbox — lets voters complete the survey from a link on the "Forms/Polls" card of the Member Dashboard, through the Member Portal (if active), and on the mobile app.
Making a Survey Available on Your Public Website
- Go to Site Setup and create a Forms-templated website page.
- Click the Select a form to display here widget and choose your survey from the list of forms.
- Click Save and Publish before returning to the Admin Dashboard.
- Important: if you skip this step, your changes will not be preserved.
Restricting a Public Website Survey Page
- Select Hide if Not Logged In when setting up the website page, if the survey/poll is relevant only to members.
- You can also limit page access to members of specific committees or with specific member tags.
Viewing and Downloading Voting Results
Once community members submit votes, the data is aggregated and stored with the form.
- Download CSV — download a spreadsheet-compatible document showing voting results.
- View Results — see an online view of graphed data showing voting outcomes, with the original survey questions displayed alongside the graphs. Hover over a graphed segment for an interactive summary of that portion of results.
Other Actions Menu Options
The "Actions" column for each form includes:
- Duplicate Form
- Access Management — assign Limited-Access Sub-Admins to the form.
- Edit Form Settings — reopens the survey-creation window for editing.
- Form Builder
- Download CSV
- Deactivate
Note: some Actions menu features will not appear during an anonymous or time-limited vote, or if no one has voted on the survey yet.
