Edit Your Site Settings (Name, URL, Theme, and Google Analytics)
Also searched as: site settings, site name, subdomain, custom domain, color palette, Google Analytics, disable public site
Use Site Settings to edit the identity and appearance of your website - its name, URL, color palette, and (optionally) Google Analytics tracking. This applies to both Production Sites and Staging Sites.
How to Get There
- Click Manage Site on the vertical Dashboard menu on the left side of the screen.
- Click the Site Setup tab.
- In the Site Builder window that opens, click Site Settings in the top right corner.
Site Name and Subdomain
Site Name is the display name of your website. It defaults to your organization's name, but you can edit it freely.
Subdomain sets your site's URL, for example yourname.hoastart.com. By default it matches your organization name, with punctuation removed and dashes replacing spaces. The URL preview below the box updates as you type.
Site Theme
This dropdown only appears when you open Site Settings from a Staging Site - it does not appear on a Production Site. Choose a theme to preview it on your staging environment before making it live.
Color Palette
Each palette in this dropdown is a pre-coordinated set of shades applied across menu bars, solid widget backgrounds, accented text, buttons, and footer backgrounds. You choose a palette as a whole; you cannot mix individual colors from different palettes.
Enable Custom Domain
Turn this on to replace your Subdomain URL with a custom web address you own, such as www.yourhoa.com. Only enable this if you already have a domain to point at your site.
Google Analytics
This field forwards visitor data to Google Analytics so you can see visitor counts, page views, and engagement. It does not create a Google Analytics account for you - you need your own Google Analytics property first.
The field accepts only the bare Measurement ID. Its placeholder text reads G-##########. Do not paste a full tracking script or <script> tag here - just the ID itself.
Google retired the old Universal Analytics tracking IDs (the ones starting with UA-) in 2023. If you set up Google Analytics on your site years ago and haven't updated it since, your old UA-XXXXXXX-X code may still be sitting in this field, and it collects zero data. This is a common reason an Analytics dashboard appears empty.
The current version, GA4, uses a Measurement ID formatted G-XXXXXXXXXX. To find it: sign in to Google Analytics at analytics.google.com, open or create a GA4 property for your site, go to Admin > Data Streams, select your web stream, and copy the Measurement ID shown there.
Disable Public Site From Being Viewed
Activate this control to make your site inaccessible on the internet. Use it for a site that is still under construction or being taken down.
Finishing Up
- Click Save to apply your changes.
- To exit without saving, click Cancel, press the Esc key, or click the X in the top right corner of the window.
