How do I search for accounts in the Chart of Accounts?
OverviewThe Search tab in the Chart of Accounts lets you find accounts by name, account type, or detail type, separately from browsing the full Accounts list.
Running a search- Click the Search tab (next to the Accounts tab) to open the Search Accounts area.
- Search Accounts box — type all or part of an account name to search by name. Leave it blank to search across all account names.
- Account Types dropdown — set to the type of account you want (for example, "Bank"). Leave it set to "All account types" to include every type.
- Detail Types dropdown — set to the specific detail type you want. (Not all detail types apply to every account type.) Leave it set to "All detail types" to include every detail type.
- Click the magnifying glass in the Search Accounts bar to run the search.
Clearing your search
- Click the clear button to clear your typed search terms.
- Click Reset filters to reset both the Account Types and Detail Types dropdowns back to "All."
Working with search results
- Each result shows a horizontal three-dots menu below its balance — use it to view the account on the Accounts tab, or to edit or deactivate the account.
- Breadcrumb links under each account (showing its parent/child chain) let you jump directly to a related parent or child account on the Accounts tab.
- After following a breadcrumb to the Accounts tab, click the Search tab again to return to your search results.
