Ready to Vote?

Also searched as: create a vote, set up a poll, build a survey, voting form, ballot form, Voting/Surveys tab

Voting lets your community make decisions together — electing board members, approving budgets, weighing in on rule changes, and more. Setting up a vote gives your members an easy, trustworthy way to participate, since every ballot is collected and counted automatically.

Step 1: Create the Voting Form
  1. In the vertical Admin Dashboard window, open the Forms tab.
  2. Click the Voting/Surveys tab.
  3. Click +Add New Survey in the upper right corner.
  4. Activate the Make Survey/Poll checkbox — this turns the form into a voting form instead of a regular custom form.
Step 2: Decide Your Voting Rules
  • Make Submissions Anonymous — activate this if you don't want individual votes tied to individual voters. Results still show totals, just not who picked what.
  • Survey End Date — enter a date if you want voting to close automatically. Once you set an end date, results stay hidden from everyone until that date passes.
  • Make Form Uneditable — activate this if you don't want the form itself changed after someone has already cast a ballot on it. This locks the questions in place, not the voter's individual answers. No one can change this if selected and saved.
Step 3: Decide Who Can Vote
  • Members Only — activate this to limit the vote to logged-in website members only.
  • Member Dashboard/Portal Accessible — activate this to let voters complete the survey from the "Forms/Polls" card on the Member Dashboard, through the Member Portal (if active), and on the mobile app.
Step 4: Attach the Vote to a Page or Dashboard

Pick one or more of the following, depending on where you want members to find the vote.

Option A: Add It to a Public Website Page
  1. Go to Site Setup and create a Forms-templated website page.
  2. Click the Select a form to display here widget and choose your survey from the list of forms.
  3. Click Save and Publish.
  • Important: if you skip this step, your changes will not be preserved.
  • Select Hide if Not Logged In if the vote is only relevant to members.
  • You can also limit the page to members of specific committees or with specific member tags.

To restrict who can see that page:

Option B: Add It to the Member Dashboard, Member Portal, or Mobile App

Activate the Member Dashboard/Portal Accessible checkbox from Step 3. Once turned on, the vote automatically appears on the "Forms/Polls" card of the Member Dashboard, in the Member Portal (if active), and on the mobile app — no extra setup needed.

Step 5: Save and Publish the Form

Once your settings and placement are set, save the form so it goes live for members to vote on.

Viewing and Downloading Results
  • Download CSV — download a spreadsheet of voting results.
  • View Results — see a graphed view of results alongside the original survey questions. Hover over a graphed segment for details.
Other Actions Menu Options

From the "Actions" column next to each form, you can also:

  • Duplicate Form
  • Access Management — assign Limited-Access Sub-Admins to the form.
  • Edit Form Settings — reopens the survey-creation window for editing.
  • Form Builder
  • Download CSV
  • Deactivate

Note: some Actions menu features will not appear during an anonymous or time-limited vote, or if no one has voted on the survey yet.

Tip: Anonymous voting means exactly what it sounds like — once you turn on "Make Submissions Anonymous," nobody can see who voted or how they voted, not even you as the Admin. If you're trying to confirm that specific members voted (for a quorum count, for example), an anonymous vote won't give you that information — you'll only be able to see totals, never individual voters.
