# How do I create a committee?
### How to Create a Committee
Committees are the lifeblood of organizational decision making. You can create individual committees to handle specific aspects of your community's affairs, with custom options for who and when different members can join.
**Steps**
1. In the Admin Panel, click **Committees** under **Membership**.
2. Click the **+ New Committee** button to open the Committee Creation window.
3. Enter a committee **Name** and brief **Description**.
4. Use the **Limited To** dropdown to restrict membership: accept members from outside your organization, restrict to community members only, or limit to specific tags within your membership.
5. Optionally, add a **Committee Image** to appear on your website.
6. Optionally, require an **Application** using a custom form.
7. Optionally, set a **Term Start Date** and **Term End Date** to define how long the committee membership term lasts.
8. Designate **Committee Leaders**, and click **+Add Another Title Role** if you want additional leadership roles.
9. Click **Save Committee** to finish.
*Note: Once a committee is created, the system automatically creates a tag for it and applies that tag to the profile of each committee member and leader. This auto-generated tag displays an asterisk before its name to differentiate it from manually created Admin tags.*
