Activate or Deactivate a Message Center Template
Also searched as: turn off automated emails, disable a template, reactivate a template, stop invoice emails
Overview
Activate or deactivate both Automated Templates and Custom Templates to control which messages — and their corresponding system features — are active.
How to Deactivate a Template
- Click on the Message Center tab, then Templates.
- Choose the Automated or Custom tab.
- On the Custom tab, the Actions column with its three-dots menu is visible directly in the row. On the Automated tab, click on the template's row first to expand it and reveal its Actions area, then click the three-dots menu.
- Choose Deactivate.
- In the DEACTIVATE TEMPLATE? confirmation window, click Deactivate to proceed, or Cancel to back out.
How to Reactivate a Template
- Follow the same steps above to locate the template.
- Deactivated templates appear with a light-gray row background.
- Click the three-dots menu and choose Reactivate.
- In the REACTIVATE TEMPLATE? confirmation window, click Reactivate to proceed, or Cancel to back out.
Important: What Happens When You Deactivate a Template
If you deactivate an Automated Template, you also deactivate the feature that uses it. For example:
- Deactivating the invoice-sending template means the system cannot and will not send out invoices — regardless of how Dues and Fees or one-off Wallet invoices are set up. (Note: Dues and Fees uses a different template to send invoices than one-off Wallet invoices use.)
- Deactivating the invoice-due-reminder template stops those reminders from going out.
- Deactivating the late/unpaid-invoice reminder template stops those reminders from going out.
- Deactivating the Membership-application template stops the system from notifying prospective Members of acceptance or rejection.
- Deactivating the password-reset/confirmation template stops password resets from being sent.
For Custom Templates: deactivating one simply makes it unavailable for use through Message Filtered Members.
Before changing the status of an Automated Template, make sure you understand exactly which operation it controls and whether you truly want to stop that operation. The examples above are not a complete list of every consequence.
