Edit an Automated Message Center Template
Automated Templates are the standard system e-mails tied to invoicing and Membership — things like an invoice reminder or a registration-approved notice. You can edit their wording and layout to add your own community's voice, without changing what triggers them.
Steps
- Click Message Center on the vertical Dashboard menu, then click Templates.
- Make sure the Automated tab is selected.
- Click on the template's row to expand it, then click the three-dot menu that appears and choose Edit.
What You Can Change
- The name in the box at the top of the editor — this is an internal label only, and is not visible to whoever receives the message.
- Subject — click the pencil icon to edit. Subject has no delete option, since every message needs one.
- Heading and Body — each has its own pencil icon to edit its text, and a trash icon to delete that module entirely if you don't want it in the message.
- Image and Button modules, if present on that template — upload a GIF/JPG/PNG for an image module, or set a destination link for a button module.
Adding Dynamic Fields
The panel on the right side of the editor lists Dynamic fields — colored chips such as Member First Name, Member Last Name, Member Email, and Organization Name, grouped under General. Templates tied to invoicing show an additional Invoice group with fields like Due Name and Invoice ID. Drag a chip into a module (or click inside the module first, then click the chip) to insert it — when the message actually sends, that chip is replaced with the real recipient- or invoice-specific value.
Saving or Reverting
- Click Save at the top of the editor once you're happy with your changes, or Cancel to discard them and return to the template list.
Tip: If you want to undo all of your customizations and go back to the original wording, use Reset instead — see the separate article on resetting an Automated Template.
