Deactivate a Sub-Admin Role

Deactivating a Sub-Admin role temporarily removes its members' access without permanently deleting the role — use this when you want to pause a role you may need again later.

Steps

  1. Click Membership on the vertical Dashboard menu at the left side of the screen, then click Sub-Admin Roles.
  2. Locate the role you want to deactivate.
  3. In the Actions column, click the Deactivate icon.
  4. In the DEACTIVATE SUB-ADMIN ROLE? window, click Deactivate to confirm, or Cancel to back out.

Once deactivated, the role's members lose the access it granted, but the role itself — its name, description, feature list, and member assignments — is preserved and can be restored.

Note: a deactivated role's Actions column only offers Reactivate and Delete — the Edit and View Members icons are not available while a role is inactive. If you need to change a deactivated role's members or features, reactivate it first.

To Reactivate a Deactivated Role

  1. Turn on Show Inactive on the Sub-Admin Roles list to reveal deactivated roles.
  2. Locate the role and click Reactivate to restore it exactly as it was before deactivation.

Tip: if you're looking to permanently remove a role instead, see Delete a Sub-Admin Role. A deactivated role with no Role Members can be deleted directly from the inactive view — but if it still has members assigned, you'll need to reactivate it, remove its members, and then delete it, since members can't be edited while a role is inactive.
