Create a Sub-Admin Role

Create a Sub-Admin role when you want to delegate part of your community's administrative work to a member, without upgrading them to a full Admin.

Steps

  1. Click Membership on the vertical Dashboard menu at the left side of the screen, then click Sub-Admin Roles.
  2. Click New Role.
  3. In the ADD NEW SUB-ADMIN ROLE window, enter a Name and Description (both required) that make clear what the role is for.
  4. Check the box next to each feature you want this role to cover.
  5. In Role Members, click the field and choose the member(s) to assign to this role from the dropdown (members are listed with their email addresses).
  6. Click View Summary to review your choices, then click Save Sub-Admin to finish, or Back to make changes.

Note: a member can only hold one Sub-Admin role at a time — the Role Members dropdown only lists members who aren't already assigned to a different role.

Note: if any feature you checked supports both full and limited access, a SUB-ADMIN ACCESS MANAGEMENT window opens automatically right after you click Save Sub-Admin, so you can set each assigned member's access level for that feature. See Create Full-Access or Limited-Access Sub-Admin Roles for that step.

Note: the View Summary screen also lists Members beneath whatever features you checked — this reflects that every Sub-Admin automatically gets basic Members-list access and isn't something you can uncheck; it doesn't count toward the feature total shown on the main Sub-Admin Roles list.
