An Overview of the Households Feature
Households let you group members who share a single address — for example, an owner and a co-owner, or an owner and a tenant — under one record. Grouping members this way limits invoices and votes to one per address instead of one per member.
Note: You must enable the Households feature before you can use it. If your organization doesn’t plan to send address-based invoices or run member votes and surveys, you may not need to turn it on.
What Households Give You
- One invoice per address for Household dues items, instead of a separate invoice for every member at that address.
- One vote per address for surveys and elections, instead of one per member.
- A single record — the Household — that ties an Address, a Household Type (Owner, Renter, Contractors, Prop Manager, or Other), and one or more Household Members together.
Where to Manage Households
All Household management lives under the Households tab on the left Dashboard menu, which contains three sub-tabs:
- Households — create, edit, search, deactivate, delete, and download Household records.
- Addresses — create, edit, search, deactivate, delete, and download Address records that Households attach to.
- Household Imports — review the results of bulk Household, Address, and Member import files.
Because every Household needs an Address to attach to, most organizations set up their Addresses first, then create Households and assign members to them.
